You will submit three files for this assignment - see below
Throughout class, we cover topics ranging across many disciplines in the environmental sciences from pollution to climate to population to animal rights.
As a way to wrap up the course and to develop a focused understanding of the underlying environmental ethical approach of the US government, you will prepare a narrated presentation focused on US policies on:
Biological Control Agents -or-
Biotechnology -or-
Climate Change -or-
Endangered Species - or-
Pollution -or-
Renewable Energy -or-
Treatment of Animals.
Pick only one of those topics before proceeding.
Then research major federal laws that address the selected topic.
Identify specific federal agencies that implement and enforce those federal laws and any regulations that have been developed.
Next, consider all major worldview arguments covered throughout class and identify the prevailing approach to environmental ethics as seen through US federal policy.
You will also want to integrate additional course concepts and vocabulary throughout the narrative of the presentation, since this is what I am looking for in determining student mastery of class concepts.
As you work on the presentation, complete the attached PowerPoint slide deck.
You may add to the slide deck as long as you include the expected content on the template slides and you stick to the 3-minute time frame.
Cite all sources used for content and visuals in APA style.
Please make the presentation interesting! Change the slide design, change the color scheme, add visuals (that you credit, of course), and enhance our engagement and interest in the topic.
After the slide deck is constructed, prepare a screencast or record an audio file to explain the analysis to the audience.
Your target audience is peers in the field of environmental policy and management, so your language and delivery should be formal and scholarly.
Do not offer your "beliefs" or "feelings" but rather offer an analysis supported by scholarly sources.
Limit the narrative to approximately 3 minutes, so that you offer the title and your name, the major topic, supporting details, the research, and findings.
There is a sample script attached to this assignment description.
In preparing the recording, you must be able to share the content with your instructor.
This means you will want to test your method and be sure your efforts are not lost on technology.
Most computers, tablets, and cell phones today can record video presentations and screencasts, and the technology is available widely and free of charge.
For example, note that Microsoft Office (MS Word, MS Excel, MS PowerPoint) is provided to students and faculty in the American Public University System through Microsoft Office 365 at no cost.
