CHFD 331 AMU week 1 forum Welcome to class and a License to Parent? Parenting American Military University
Introductions
Welcome! In this first forum we are going to get to know more about each other and in part two look at the differences in our values.
PLEASE- your initial posting should encompass both part one and part two.
Make sure you use the rubric when you develop your posts. Print out a copy of the rubric and align your work to that rubric. It will be used to grade each posting including this one.
You should be reading each and every posting in the forum. To only look at the posting you are replying to will significantly limit the information you receive from your peers and instructor. Do not shortchange your education!
Part one –
Please introduce yourself (name, married, children, pets, etc.)
Where are you from and currently residing or stationed?
What do you do for a living? What do you plan to do for work once you graduate?
Why are you taking this class? How many credits do you currently have?
What are your interests outside of college?
If you had a free weekend, what would you do?
NOTE: All students are required to post at least 250 words before Sunday or they will be automatically dropped from the class.
Part two –
Please use citations with references in this section.
1. If a license was required to become a parent, as suggested by David Lykken, what do you think should be required to obtain that license? At first blush you may think this could never happen, and it may not. But the point is to think of why a license could be needed; think of the benefits, what would be needed to overcome objections. How do values enter in to the discussion?
2. Discuss why culture is important and how does it affect parenting style?
