SPAN100 Spanish I AMU week 7 forum Introducing Yourself in Spanish American Military University assistance is available on Domyclass
Prior to posting your answer to this forum, I want you to read the following document which is a brief recap of some very “Common Pitfalls” that second language learners of Spanish commit. This is a great document to review regularly, and it is based on many of the points made in the book Breaking out of beginner Spanish that I mentioned earlier in the course.
Once you have studied the document, please watch this Prezi presentation that one of our faculty members created:
Write a post much like your initial introduction but this time in Spanish. Re-introduce yourself including information about you, your family, job, what you are doing, likes/dislikes etc. (Please use skills and content that you have learned in this course).
- Your post should be 75 words or more and should consist of 10-15 complete sentences that are level appropriate up to Unit four, lesson two of Rosetta Stone. Initial post due Thursday 11:55 p.m. ET
- Reply to at least two peers in Spanish, commenting on content in their posts to create a dialog. Have a conversation! Peer replies due Sunday 11:55 p.m. ET
Try to showcase as many different types of sentences and verbs as you can from the RS content. For example, you should use the progressive and present tenses, regular present-tense verbs, reflexive verbs, stem changing verbs, etc. Please try to write this with the skills that you have and don’t rely heavily on a dictionary–go for simple and correct rather than complex and requiring grammar and vocabulary that you have not yet learned. Treat this as though you were talking to somebody in real life (where you would not have a dictionary or book), thus I will be able to see your true progress as I would be able to in an oral exam.
Please use appropriate Spanish language punctuation and accent marks. The document Accents and Punctuation tells you how to do this. (Becoming familiar with this document was part of week one’s assignments).
ALT commands to create Spanish characters:
You can also easily create the Spanish characters using the Special Characters feature above the text field.
(If you don’t see the omega or blue horse shoe, the icon may be a cube with blue and red symbols on it. They both represent the special characters feature).
If you have a laptop and can’t create ALT commands, or if you find it more convenient, there is an icon on the gray area above the text field (where you type your post), find the smiley face, and close by you should see an icon that is either a blue horse shoe (omega) or a box with red and blue symbols on it. This is the special character icon…clicking this box will allow you to choose special characters. You can use this box to create Spanish characters and punctuation marks.
Let me know if you have any trouble with the characters and I can help you out.
I wish you all the best this week and look forward to reading your comments!
Buena suerte.
