Layouts determine how text and content are arranged on a slide. One theme can accommodate many different layouts. By default, the first slide in the presentation has a Title layout. Placeholders, as the name implies, are used to hold a place for objects that may be included on a slide. Commands related to applying layouts are located in the Slides group on the Home tab of the Ribbon.
Difficult Concept:
Layouts determine the number and position of placeholders on slides.As previously discussed, layouts and placeholders make it easier to enter slide content. Learners should be familiar with how placeholder attributes affect text formatting as well as how to enter and format text in placeholders. This process includes but is not limited to:
•Positioning the cursor using the mouse
•Positioning the cursor using keyboard shortcuts
•Entering text using the keyboard
•Selecting text
•Formatting text
•Cutting and pasting text
