2. What is my prior knowledge of my topic? How do I feel about this subject?
As a volleyball coach, I have been in a personal position to witness the drastic disparity in the involvement, self-confidence, and performance results among athletes due to the pricing strategies of coaching. I understand that even today, authoritarian coaching models (albeit outdated by now) are not always conducive to attaining the intrinsic motivation required to foster athletic development in the long run. I have a rather enthusiastic and professional attitude toward this topic, which is proven through observation. Personally, I think that sports activities among the young people should be taken as a character building, resilience, and acquisition of life skills, rather than just being anxious about winning and losing. However, I also understand the conflict between the necessity to adhere to the rules of the competition and the necessity to offer young sportsmen a psychologically good environment (Van Tuyl et al.,2024). I believe that under the condition that they are informed in their practice, I will adhere to these purposes, which, however, I do not deem mutually exclusive, but complement each other. The level of knowledge that I have now implies that I am well informed about the various coaching models, principles of psychology of the athlete, and how teenagers develop, yet I realize that I still need to further my level of knowledge with the help of systematic research.
