EVIDENCE BASED RESOURCES
You have probably heard of evidence-based medicine, but have you heard of evidence-based resources? Like evidence-based practices, evidence-based resources are a compilation of published reviews covering interventions and studies to improve health. These peer-reviewed resources have been evaluated on ethical practices, quality, reliability, and other research specific qualifiers. This week, you will review the Healthy People 2030Links to an external site. website and their evidence-based resources. Note: In grading every required Discussion posting, your Instructor uses a Discussion Rubric. Review the Rubric prior to completing your Discussion. This Discussion will be available from Day 1 through Day 7 of this week. You are required to submit your initial post by Day 3. You are encouraged to post early. Once you have submitted your initial post, start responding with your colleagues. You must begin responding to your colleagues by no later than Day 5 and should continue to interact frequently with your colleagues through Day 7. Part of what makes a Discussion a discussion and not a lecture is the back and forth, in depth, animated interaction of at least two people. If you start a topic and none of your peers are responding to your post, consider what you can do to get the conversation going. Include something that would elicit further thoughts and different opinions from peers. Validate your opinions with references and links to the sources that you used so that your peers can read it for themselves. See your Discussion Rubric for specific grading requirements.

BY DAY 3 OF WEEK 1
Post your response to the Discussion area in the Canvas classroom. As health educators, our goals are to reduce disease and promote healthy behaviors. To educate our target populations to prevent disease, we must know how to effectively communicate with them. As part of this class, you will be expected to create health education communication messages for a target audience. In this class, you will create several health messages to inform and empower your target audience to make positive behavioral changes to prevent the risk of a health behavior or condition. For this discussion, you will select your health education issue, population, and setting. In your discussion post:
Identify one of the listed health education behaviors or conditions you want to improve and discuss why there is need (statistics encouraged). Identify one of the population groups as your target audience to tailor your communication. Identify a setting where this communication will be provided. Create one goal for your health message to help reduce the health issue. Use two reliable and current references to support your analysis of this topic.
BY DAY 5 OF WEEK 1
Respond to two classmates. Critique your colleagues' sources. Are they reliable? Are they current? Suggest additional resources that might help your colleagues to support their health communication message. Provide a rationale for why these additional resources are reliable. Continue to engage in the Discussion until it ends on Day 7. Information should be cited using APA style.
